The department gets referrals from across the country. The hospital is the first in India to have a brain navigation system along with facility to do CT scan during brain operation. The rehabilitation unit has proved to be a boon for the people of Pune and the childhood epilepsy unit at Sahyadri has treated more than 10,000 patients
till date. 
The department of behavioral sciences, a little known word in the general population, but nonetheless a very commonly needed service, deals with more than 3,000 patients a month. Sahyadri is home to one of the very few neuro rehabilitation centres in the country and over 500 patients use this facility every week. The hospital is a film-less one with having deployed instant archiving of data, availability of reports and images at the click of mouse. The hospital is fully wired with access to PACS. Neurosurgery and haematology are the lead departments at Sahyadri. In neurosurgery, operations on the cervical spine, junction of brain and spinal cord are the areas where original work with innovative techniques has been pioneered. Sahyadri is also recognised for its contribution in indigenisation. Equipment indigenously developed at Sahyadri are brain stereotactic surgical system, radiofrequency generator used in brain surgeries like the one for parkinson’s disease or pain relief surgeries, power instrumentation for orthopaedic, heart and brain surgeries and arsenic treatment for certain kind of leukaemia has been developed at Sahyadri. The hospital also has imported
high-end equipment like dual energy CT scan, intraoperative brain and spinal cord function monitoring system and intraoperative
navigation system.
Other highlights of the hospital are hi-end equipment like multi-slice CT scanner, latest 1.5 tesla MRI, which does complete body scan in just 12 minutes, an ISO C-arm-3D image intensifier, Sequio 2D echo and color doppler machines, two cath labs for cardiac and peripheral interventional work, five operation theatres with separate air handling units for each theatre to avoid cross contamination. Special HEPA filters to avoid infections, functional brain imaging and cardiac imaging, molecular genetic laboratory and many more.

Research
Aligned with well developed departments listed and described earlier, Sahyadri Hospital has various research projects going on. In neurosurgery, it’s the development of a system for deep brain stimulation; in haematology, it’s trying newer medication for leukemia, at cytogenetics, it’s the genetic profiling of certain diseases in Indian population. is the innovative community psychiatry model,

the Geneva-based International Society for
Mental Health.
