Fortis Healthcare Ltd. recently launched Malar Heart Institute at Malar Hospital in Chennai. MK Stalin, Minister for Rural Development & Local Administration, Tamil Nadu, inaugurated the cardiac centre.
Malar Heart Institute is fully equipped to cover all aspects of cardiac care. The institute will have specific focus and expertise in handling acute cardiac cases. The centre will be equipped with cutting edge technology and infrastructure, including 30 dedicated CCUs, two OTs, electro physiology laboratory, diagnostic services and a cathlab.
The heart centre will be equipped to undertake complete gamut of cardiac care services ranging from prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of cardiac patients. Services available at the centre will include invasive and non-invasive cardiology and cardiac surgery, entailing coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG), paediatric cardiac surgery, cardiac health checks, angioplasty, port access surgery, minimally invasive surgery, valve replacement surgery and EP studies.
In case of a cardiac emergency, CCUs at Malar Heart Institute will have the distinction of having door-of-balloon time of 20 minutes, thereby minimising the irreversible damage to the heart. The CCUs will be equipped with defibrillators, ventilators and mobile echo machine for constant cardiac and post operative care, supported by senior cardiologists, physicians and specially trained staff.
The institute will be backed by fully equipped dedicated mobile CCUs available round-the-clock. These mobile CCUs will be equipped with
on-board ventilator, defibrillator, cardiac monitor and an IABP.
Dr. KR Balakrishnan will lead the cardiac programme as Director Cardiac Sciences. Shivinder Mohan Singh, CEO & MD, Fortis Healthcare, said, “We are very happy to be present in South India, especially in Chennai.
