Wockhardt
Hospitals,
Bangalore,
has
received
the
highly
coveted
accreditation
from
Joint
Commission
International
(JCI),
USA.
The
super-speciality
hospital
on
Bannerghatta
Road
achieved
this
feat
in
just
15
months
since
its
inception.
The
hospital
is
the
first
hospital
in
Karnataka
to
receive
the
JCI
accreditation.
Across
the
globe,
JCI
accreditation
is
considered
the
gold
standard
in
quality
and
safety
in
healthcare
facilities.
JCI
is
the
international
arm
of
the
Joint
Commission
on
Accreditation
of
Healthcare
Organisations
(JCAHO),
the
oldest
and
most
prestigious
healthcare
accreditation
organisation
in
the
world.
It
is
an
independent
and
non-profit
body.
“Healthcare
organisations
around
the
world
want
to
create
environments
that
focus
on
quality,
safety
and
continuous
improvement,”
said
Karen
Timmons,
JCI’s
CEO,
in
a
message.
“The
patient
community
worldwide
should
be
proud
that
Wockhardt
Hospitals
in
India
has
made
a
commitment
to
quality
and
safety.”
The
accreditation
has
come
after
a
comprehensive,
protocol-based
evaluation
process
conducted
by
JCI.
This
puts
Wockhardt
Hospital,
Bangalore,
on
par
with
internationally
recognised
centers
of
medical
excellence.
The
certification
is
a
reflection
of
Wockhardt
Hospital’s
commitment
to
stringent
quality
standards.
Accreditation
is
not
a
one-time
process.
The
super-speciality
hospital
would
have
to
adhere
to
new
standards
in
quality
and
patient
safety
that
JCI
introduces
from
time
to
time,
besides
re-accreditation
surveys
every
three
years.
There
will
also
be
random
audits.
