Beds:
1,100,
Doctors:
600,
Paramedics:
500,
Nurses:
1,100,
Ambulances
10—wondering
what
is
being
talked
about?
Well,
it’s
the
gigantic
Yashoda
Group
of
Hospitals,
the
largest
healthcare
group
in
Andhra
Pradesh
(AP)
with
three
branches!
Having
the
largest
number
of
beds
and
staff
is
not
an
easy
task
to
achieve.
But
Yashoda
has,
in
20
years,
mastered
the
skills
of
good
branding
and
better
care
at
affordable
prices.
Yashoda’s
up-to-date
emergency
service
facilities
add
up
to
the
basket
of
its
achievements.
A
right-on-hand
proof
is
the
roof
top
helipad
(the
first
in
this
region)
at
Yashoda
Hospital,
Secunderabad,
which
enables
to
shift
patients
from
distant
areas
to
this
centre.
The
Group
has
three
hospitals,
in
Secunderabad
(500
beds),
Malakpet
(300)
and
Somajiguda
(300)
with
a
combined
capacity
of
1,100
beds.
One
might
think,
why
so
much
concentration
only
in
AP?
Well,
it
is
because
the
group
wants
to
create
a
strong
foothold
on
home
ground
first
and
then
move
on
to
other
pastures.
During
the
last
12
years
the
group
has
received
over
20,00,000
patients
from
all
parts
of
AP
and
surrounding
states
and
is
known
as
one
of
the
finest
hospitals
in
the
state
to
perform
affordable
liver,
organ
transplants.
The
start
Dr.
G
Surender
Rao,
the
present
Executive
Director
of
Yashoda
Group
of
Hospitals,
started
Yashoda
as
a
small
facility
in
Somajiguda.
Prior
to
this,
during
his
stint
of
eight
years
in
Iran,
Dr.
Rao
was
exposed
to
management
of
large
hospitals
and
had
the
opportunity
to
work
with
international
medical
experts.
After
this,
he
successfully
completed
his
paediatrics
postgraduation
and
started
his
own
private
practice
at
Dilsukhnagar,
Hyderabad.
Within
a
short
span,
his
practice
picked
up
very
well
and
he
was
a
leading
paediatrician
in
Hyderabad.
Encouraged
by
the
success
in
the
profession,
he
planned
his
first
venture_Yashoda
Hospital
at
Somajiguda,
Hyderabad
in
1989.
In
the
90s,
the
200-bed
Somajiguda
hospital
saw
a
significant
growth.
Encouraged
by
the
success
Dr.
Rao
started
the
second
facility.
His
brother
Dr.
G
Ravender
Rao,
who
is
currently
the
managing
director
of
the
group,
was
a
pivotal
support
all
the
time,
playing
a
vital
role
in
every
step
of
expansion.
After
that
came
the
Malakpet
set-up
in
1995,
a
super-speciality
hospital,
followed
by
a
third
facility
at
Secunderabad
in
2003.
The
Secunderabad
hospital
is
considered
the
largest
in
AP.
The
efforts
of
the
two
brothers
paid
off
when
Yashoda
Hospital
became
the
first
Hospital
Group
in
AP
to
have
1,000
beds,
450
doctors
and
60
specialities!
From
25
doctors
and
80
nurses,
today
it
has
employs
more
than
450
doctors,
1,500
nurses
and
a
total
of
4,000
staff
comprising
paramedical
and
other
support
staff.
They
have
slowly
and
swiftly
grown
from
having
a
single
CT
Scan
to
having
one
of
the
world’s
few
digital
flat
panel
cath
labs.
According
to
Dr.
Rao,
it
is
vital
that
each
of
the
Group
Hospitals
be
an
independent
facility.
Hence,
every
hospital
set-up
of
Yashoda
is
equipped
with
every
big
and
small
equipment
to
be
independently
functional.
To
prove
their
point
furthermore,
the
group
has
allotted
a
cath
lab,
an
MRI,
a
CT
scan
etc
at
all
three
hospitals.
Little
wonder
then
that
they
treat
the
maximum
number
of
patients
in
the
city.
Yashoda
Group
of
Hospitals
admits
and
cures
over
three
lakh
patients
each
year.
In
fact,
Yashoda
Hospital,
Secunderabad
has
been
rated
as
Andhra
Pradesh’s
Best
